Workshop #1- Kathy Hunt: Who’s Who in the Zoo? Join Kathy for a look at the world of learning styles and Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligence. Please come to this session to learn more about yourself, your students and your colleagues.
Workshop #2- Walt Grebing: Essential Skills in Middle Level Leadership: Making teaming and advisory work. Walt is Past President of the National Middle School Association and has consulted with more than 100 schools in the US and overseas. Known for his practical, humorous approach to middle school issues, Walt is co-author of the book We Who Laugh, Last and several articles including "the Seven Cardinal Skills for Middle School Leadership," and "Challenging the Brightest Without Sacrificing the Rest."
Workshop #3- David Pollock: "Thriving in Transitions: Growing up Among Worlds. A seminar exploring the experiences of international mobility. What are the characteristics of individuals living in another culture? What are the stages of transition to a new culture? Learn the benefits, challenges and long life-long impacts of a cross-cultural lifestyle. David will also present strategies for a successful transition into new cultures.
Workshop #4 "Student Study Teams:" An all day workshop open to those who support students beyond the classroom (i.e. counselors, resource teachers, speech and language, ESL). A panel consisting of a counselor, two resource teachers, and a speech and language therapist will work to help schools develop and refine effective Student Study Teams. The presenters will have universal forms that help mainstream staff identify students with needs. Bring ideas!
